Trademarks (brands)

Trademarks protect mainly your brand – name or logo. However, it is also possible to protect product’s shape or packaging by trademarks.

Designs

If you are a designer, a businessman or just launching a new product, the legal protection of your ideas is certainly important to you. Registered designs protect the appearance of your product, its lines, contours, colors, shapes, structure, or its decoration.

Domain names

Domain names are at least as important as trademarks nowadays. That is why it is important to register domain names early when building your brand and be aware of third persons using domain names that collide with yours. In many cases, it is possible to acquire the colliding domain names by way of arbitration or alternative dispute resolution.

Register domain name.
Monitor your domain names portfolio so that you know when someone else registers identical or similar domain name.
Represent you before courts and arbitration authorities (WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, Czech Arbitration Court) regarding domains as for example .com, .eu, .cz, etc.

Online brand protection

Our story

Ondřej Ekrt

Trademark & Design Attorney

I graduated from Metropolitan University Prague (Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Property) and Uppsala University in Uppsala, Sweden (Master’s degree in Intellectual Property Law). During my studies, I did an internship at the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and a six-month Erasmus exchange programme at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland.

I started working as a legal assistant at an intellectual property law firm Propatent in Prague. After passing bar exams I became a member of Chamber of Patent Attorneys of the Czech Republic and started working as a trademark & design attorney in Propatent. After some time, I started a new adventure and became a member of Legal Affairs team in Husqvarna Group in Stockholm, where I managed the global online brand protection and anti-counterfeiting strategies. I also dealt with trademark disputes and marketing law.

In my practice, I focus mainly on trademarks, industrial designs, domain names, brand protection, anti-counterfeiting work, litigation and prosecution in the field of industrial property law and unfair competition. I also provide legal services in English.

Lukáš Pelcman

Attorney

I enjoy modern technology and its connection with the world of paragraphs. For that reason, I deal with intellectual property law not only in my practice, but also within my publishing activities. Specifically, I deal with brand protection, copyright and domain disputes, including alternative dispute resolution (ADR) before the Czech Arbitration Court, WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center and the European Information Society Institute. As part of my practice, I also participated in the implementation of the ADR system for European Union domains at WIPO in 2017.

I studied law at Charles University, including a one-year study stay at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. During my studies, I also completed an internship at Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, Czech Telecommunication Office and a study stay at the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in Luxembourg. During and after my studies, I worked in Czech law firms, where I dealt with, among other things, the enforcement of intellectual property rights, unfair competition and trademark registrations supporting both Czech and foreign clients. I provide legal services in Czech and English.
